Upper Jaw Smile

Restoration in Costa Rica

The Challenge

The patient was unhappy with her upper teeth due to chronic pain, failing restorations, and poor aesthetics. These issues affected both her ability to chew comfortably and her confidence when smiling.

The Solution

Following a comprehensive evaluation—including a CT scan, clinical examination, medical and dental history, and a full set of photographs—we determined that her remaining upper teeth were no longer restorable.

The recommended treatment plan involved extracting the remaining teeth and placing six dental implants to support a zirconia All-on-6 full-arch restoration, thereby providing long-term stability, function, and aesthetics.

Why All-on-6?

For this upper jaw restoration, we selected the All-on-6 protocol over All-on-4 to provide increased surface area and support. This is especially beneficial in the upper arch to ensure a lifetime of stability and natural chewing function.

First Visit

Surgery was performed to extract the remaining upper teeth and place six dental implants following the All-on-6 protocol.

A few days later, the patient was fitted with a temporary removable denture to wear during the six-month healing and implant integration period.

Second Visit

After six months, the implants were uncovered, and final digital impressions were taken.

The following day, a plastic prototype of the new smile was tried in to evaluate bite, function, and overall aesthetics. Once approved, we discussed the final aesthetic details with the patient.

Our dental laboratory then fabricated the final zirconia All-on-6 prosthesis. A few days later, the definitive restoration was delivered, the bite was carefully adjusted, and the patient was released to test her new teeth in real-life situations.

The next day, she returned for final bite adjustments, delivery of a protective night guard, final X-rays, and photographs.

Today, the patient is pain-free, able to chew comfortably again, and proudly showing a beautiful, confident smile.

The Result

How many trips to Costa Rica are required?

Typically, two trips are needed: one for the surgical implant placement and a second for the final Zirconia bridge fitting.

Is the bridge permanent?

Yes. Unlike dentures, the All-on-6 Zirconia bridge is fixed in place and can only be removed by a dentist.

Will I be without teeth during the process?

Never. We provide a high-quality temporary bridge so you can smile and eat while your implants heal.
