Dental Tourism in Costa Rica
Dental Tourism is the act of traveling outside of your home country to obtain dental care. While dental tourists may travel for a variety of reasons, those reasons are usually driven by cost considerations.
While cost is still a driving factor, these days, many travelers see dental tourism as an opportunity to get the healthcare they need at an affordable cost, while taking advantage of their recuperation time in a an exotic and desirable vacation destination.
In the case of Meza Dental Care, our patients look at it as a no-brainer. They come to us for great rates on the dental work they need. They are getting that care from some of the best dentists in the world that have all the accreditations (if not more) than their dentists back home have. Moreover, while they are healing, they’re spending the days in a tropical paradise, instead of their living rooms.
We think it is a win-win scenario for anyone that needs extensive dental work. However, many people have many concerns surrounding dental tourism, and we can certainly appreciate that. We would be nervous too; if we were thinking about going to another country, we have never been to before to have a medical procedure done. It’s only natural. That is why we have put together this section of our website. It addresses some of the most common concerns we’ve heard from our patients over the years. And remember, you can always call us with any questions or concerns you may have. We’re here to help!
What makes Meza Dental Care the safest option?
As the cost of dental care in countries like the United States and Canada continues to rise, more and more people are looking to other countries for their dental health needs. However, the most common question that keeps coming up is, “is dental tourism safe”? It is a valid question and something that prospective dental travelers should consider very carefully. The answer to that question is that it depends.
The fact is that there are very talented dentists all over the world that are every bit as good as what you might find in your own country. Nevertheless, just as you would at home, you need to do your research and find the right dentist for your needs. While many look to dentists overseas because they are a more economical option, the cost should be secondary to the dentist’s track record and qualifications. Dental tourism can be very safe if you find the right doctor in the right country.
If you do your research on Meza Dental Care, you will quickly learn that our dental clinic is one of the safest and most medically advanced options available anywhere in the world.
Our record speaks for itself.
- Our four on-staff dentists have over 38 years of combined dental experience.
- Dr. Meza is the 5th generation of dentists in his family. In fact, the Meza family name is synonymous with Dentistry in Latin America.
- Dr. Meza has had nearly 5 years of post graduate training from UCLA; one of the top dental schools in the world.
- Dr. Meza is the first accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in Costa Rica and one of only three in all of Latin America.
It’s important for us that you are aware of everything that goes into your treatment.
The real question is why wouldn't you choose Costa Rica?
With so many countries in the world marketing themselves as dental tourism destinations, why should someone choose Costa Rica. Well, we think the answer is easy, because Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places on earth. However, here’s a few more reasons for you to consider.
Costa Rica is world renowned for its extremely high medical standards and protocols. The country has a long history of being a safe, secure destination for medical tourists of all types…dental health, cosmetic surgery, fertility and hormone treatments among others. And Costa Rica’s hospitals are considered among the most modern and advanced in all of Latin America; rivaling those you would find in the U.S. and Canada.
Costa Rica offers unparalleled value when it comes to the level of service you receive. The cost of medical services in Costa Rica are usually less than half of what you might pay in the U.S. or Canada.
Costa Rica is arguably one of the safest countries in all of Latin America. In fact, the crime rate in Costa Rica is lower than in many major U.S. cities. Costa Rica also enjoys one of the most stable governments in the world. So stable in fact, that it has no need for an army and hasn’t had one since 1948.
Costa Ricans, or “Ticos” are known for being extremely friendly and very well educated. Costa Rica has a literacy rate of 97.8% and most Ticos speak fluent English.
For over 30 years, Costa Rica has been considered one of the premier ecotourism destinations in the entire world. 25% of the country is made up of national parks and protected areas. In short, it is paradise on earth.
Many of our patients choose Costa Rica as a dental destination because it is a relatively short flight away. San Jose is only a 3 hour flight from Miami International Airport.
A better value for all the right reasons.
Many people make the false assumption that healthcare in Costa Rica is less expensive than places like Canada or the U.S. because it’s inferior in quality. But really, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, at Meza Dental, we use the same exact brand name materials that dentists use in the U.S.
Here are the two main reasons we are able to offer such an excellent value.
- The cost for the same exact brand of dental materials you would find at home are lower in Latin America because our economies are smaller. Manufacturers adjust their costs accordingly.
- Because fixed costs such as rent, taxes, etc. as well as labor costs for skilled help are lower in Costa Rica than in the U.S. or Canada, we are able to pass those savings on to our patients.
Our process is painless…just like our dental care.
One of the most common questions we get is “how does that process work”? Here is a step by step of what to expect when you come to Meza Dental Care for dental treatment.
Step 1: When you contact Meza Dental for the first time, one of our Patient Coordinators will listen to your needs and concerns. They may ask you for certain documents pertaining to your medical history such as X-rays, past dental records, and pictures of your teeth.
Step 2: Once our doctors have had a chance to review your information, your Patient Coordinator will schedule a call between you and one of our dentists. The doctor will go over their findings with you and discuss your options and the best way to meet your dental health goals.
Step 3: After you and the doctor have agreed on the necessary procedures, we will review the estimated costs with you and schedule your dental treatment plan and assist you in arranging your travel and lodging.
Once you arrive in Costa Rica our friendly driver Jose will be waiting for you at the airport, ready to bring you to us and on your way to your new smile!
